Vedamea News & Updates

August 4th, 2014:
It has been a while since we left you all with an update on our happenings...we surely have been busy!

With thanks to Cecilie Kemp and his many talented handlers along the way  "Dante"  gained his Championship title, with many fantastic wins including Best in Group and Class in Shows. He is officially Australian Champion Vedamea Smoke N Mirrors - the first Champion offspring for both his sire and dam; Potter & Vogue. Litter siblings Allegra, Bolt & Griffin have also since then been bestowed many Class in Group, Class in Show and a heap of Best of Breed awards.

The 2014 Purina Sydney Royal Dog Show saw the Vedamea Collies dominate the winners pegs yet again!
Honours went to "Lydia" (Ch V. I'm Nobody's Alibi) who was awarded BITCH CHALLENGE, then went one further to win BEST OF BREED!!!
Our exciting young Sable boy "Switch" who has only been shown sparingly won his Junior Class with kennel mates "Griffin" and "Bolt" placing 2nd and 3rd to him respectively, and then topped it with DOG CHALLENGE & RUNNER UP BEST OF BREED!
"TJ" placed 1st in a large Australian Bred Dog class, and "Allegra" backed it all up with RESERVE BITCH CHALLENGE!
We all drove home on CLOUD 9 and stayed there for a good long while! Thanks must go to Ken, Wendy, Kate & Jess who kept us fuelled with coffee, fed well, laughing non-stop and made sure the day ran seamlessly.

"Lydia" has had an incredible run since the Royal, with multiple BEST IN GROUP wins, Class in Groups and a Class in Show under Breed Specialist, and was almost unbeaten for the Bitch Challenge & Best of Breed at the shows we attended.

Our beautiful Smooth babies spent the year running and playing around Vedamea, until they decided they'd like to make an appearance at some shows....and haven't they done well! To date they have taken every Dog Challenge, and almost all Bitch Challenge & Best of Breed awards since their first appearance in the Minor class. We can't wait to see what the future holds for Fargo, Ringo, Felice & Angel as they all promise much and carry a pedigree that will be very valuable to our breeding program. Until then, they are just all about FUN!

We will add some photos on this page, and in the Gallery, so keep checking in to see what we've been up to!!!

MERRY CHRISTMAS

&

HAPPY NEW YEAR

Wishing all the Vedamea Collies and their families, both here and abroad, the best for the coming year.

November 22nd, 2013:

The past few months since our last update have just FLOWN by! We have had a very successful time since then, both in and out of the show ring.

Collie Club of NSW June 2013 (Judge Mrs Dot Wilson NZ) -

"Allegra" (V. A Spell I'm Under) wins the large baby bitch class and pips her brother "Griffin" (V. Toil N Trouble) at the post for BEST BABY PUPPY IN SHOW. Their brother "Bolt" (V. Breakin My Spell) placed a very close 2nd to Griffin in their large baby dog class;  to finish of their highly successful Baby Puppy careers.

Collie Club of Victoria July 2013 (Judge Mr Tomas Rohlin [Denmark]) -

Bolt - 1st Minor Dog, Switch (V. Loadstar) - 3rd Minor Dog, Griffin - 3rd Puppy Dog, TJ (Baqilodge Zero In On Me) - 2nd Aust Bred Dog, Allegra - 1st Minor Bitch & BEST MINOR PUPPY IN SHOW, Lydia - 1st Open Bitch & RESERVE BITCH CHALLENGE.

In this period we also titled no less than THREE new Australian Champions! We congratulate:

Multi BISS Champion Vedamea Diamond Dior "Sparkle"

Champion Vedamea Walk Into My Spell "Potter"

Champion Vedamea Walkin On Sunshine "Calypso"

Both Potter & his sister Calypso titled within two weeks of one another, and naturally they both had to do it with a Runner Up Best In Group

(Group 2) EACH!

Proving that Vedamea Collies embody both Beauty AND brains, "Twice" (Vedamea Twice An Heir CDX RAE) added another Obedience title to the end of his name, while his younger brother "Morse" (Vedamea Morse Magic) was working on more legs of his first obedience & rally titles! Congratulations to their lovely owner Val Day for all her hard work and commitment in taking her beloved boys to dizzying heights!

March 31st, 2013:

Wow what a day! Team Vedamea were well represented at this years Sydney Royal amongst a total Collie (Rough) entry of 50 under Mrs B. Mueller from Switzerland. We thank those familiar, and new, faces who came and said 'Hello' throughout the day, admired & enquired about our Collies.

"Potter" (V.Walk Into My Spell) placed 3rd in an all-Sable Intermediate dog class, "TJ" (Baqilodge Zero In On Me) won a large Open Dog class and went on to take out RESERVE DOG CHALLENGE! Not to be stood up, "Lydia" (Ch.V.I'm Nobody's Alibi) was placed 2nd in a large Open Bitch class and then re-entered the ring settling for nothing less than RESERVE BITCH CHALLENGE!

Our magnificent tri-colour "Zac" (Ch.Baqilodge Quiver N Arrow) was awarded BEST OF BREED Collie (Smooth) and despite being the only Breed representative entered, he charmed the crowds and received glowing comments from the lovely Swiss Judge.

Below are our three "stars" on the day; "TJ" showing off his tricks, "Lydia" showing off her head & "Zac" Showing off his ribbons!

March 23rd, 2013:

Today marked our first day at the 2013 Purina Sydney Royal Dog Show - Sweepstakes day.

We had three entries in total made up of our stunning boy "Phantom" (Ch V.Knight O Fantasy) in Veterans 10yrs+, and "Allegra" (V.A Spell I'm Under) & "Sassy" (V.Illuminosity co-owned with Tiarne Perkiss) entered in the Baby Sweepstakes class. "Phantom" did not place in his extremely competitive class of beautiful veterans but he looked absolutely magnificent in the ring, a true 'stayer'!!! Little "Allegra" & "Sassy" acted like they owned the show from the moment they arrived until the second they left - taking everything in their stride and loving all the attention. Both girls performed to perfection and althought "Sassy" didn't make it any further, "Allegra" was cut from the Working Dog Group and returned later to compete in the final round - eventually winning 3RD PLACE BABY PUPPY SWEEPSTAKES in a HUGE entry of 79 babies, under All-Breeds judge Mrs Denise Smith (Qld).

March 16 & 17, 2013:

What a weekend for Vedamea Collies! On Saturday at the Camden Show Society, "Calypso" (Vedamea Walkin On Sunshine) won Best of Breed under Collie Specialist Mrs Leigh Shanahan (NSW), her brother "Potter" won the Dog Challenge, and young Mr Griffin (Vedamea Toil & Trouble - co owned with Tracy Ryles) was awarded BEST BABY PUPPY IN GROUP! On Sunday we were entered down at Wollongong for the Illawarra Collie & Shetland Sheepdog Club show. We walked away with a Reserve Dog Challenge for "TJ" (Baqilodge Zero In On Me), Bitch Challenge, RUBOB & BEST OPEN IN SHOW with "Lydia" (Ch Vedamea I'm Nobody's Alibi), BEST BABY PUPPY IN SHOW with "Griffin" (Vedamea Toil N Trouble) and topped it off with "Calypso" (Vedamea Walkin On Sunshine) being awarded Best Gaited in Show. This weekend was, as it always is, the perfect 'dry-run' for the upcoming Sydney Royal Dog Show; we look forward to seeing you all there for Collie Day on the 31st of May! Photo by Tamica Louttit.

Fe

We ventured down to the beautiful Bermagui on the Far South Coast of NSW for the Sapphire Coast Kennel & Obedience Club weekend cluster of shows.

"Lydia" (Ch Vedamea I'm Nobody's Alibi - pictured with Jordan) took all three Bitch Challenges on offer, 2 x RUBOB's, 1 x Best of Breed & 1 Open in Group and our wonderful "Mozart" (Vedamea Walkin On Heir) won the Dog Challenge & RUBOB on the Saturday.

On the Saturday, "Lydia" was expertly shown by the very talented Miss Taylah Rattray in Junior Handlers, where they won first place together in some tough competition.

January 19th, 2013:

Jordan took "Lydia" (Ch Vedamea I'm Nobody's Alibi) and "Zac" (Ch Baqilodge Quiver N Arrow) to the Combined Northern Canine Comittee All Breeds Champ Show over the weekend. They walked away with 3 x Best of Breeds for Zac, and 3 x Best of Breeds and a RUNNER UP BEST EXHIBIT IN GROUP  for Lydia!!! What a way to welcome in the start of our showing year!

With 2012 drawing to a close we would like to take this opportunity to wish everyone a

Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year

from all at Vedamea
